What is the Pirate Shop Token?
Epic calls it Pirate Shop Access. It is a very rare find from chests in the Treasure Hunters mini-season, and press reports describe it as making eligible V-Bucks items in the Item Shop free for 14 days, in two separate periods. It is a real in-game reward. Treat any website that offers it to you as a scam.
The official odds
On November 7, 2026, Fortnite Status posted that each chest in a normal match has a 1 in 137,500 chance of containing Pirate Shop Access. That replaces earlier guesses such as 1 in 700,000, which were never official.
Those odds are very long. At the normal rate, opening 1,000 chests gives about a 0.7% chance of at least one token, and you would need about 95,000 chests to reach a 50% chance. Use the calculator above to try your own numbers, and treat the token as a bonus instead of a reason to grind.
How to get it
There is no quest and no guaranteed spot, so the only thing you control is how many chests get opened:
- Open chests in normal matches. Epic's odds are per chest opened.
- Play with a squad. Reports say that when one party member finds it, the whole party receives it.
- Play during Treasure Hours. Epic lists a 1.5× boost, and it was 2× in one November 7 session.
- Avoid Ranked: Beebom reports that tokens cannot be found in Ranked lobbies.
How to activate it
Reports describe the same steps: open the Item Shop from the lobby, select Plunder the Item Shop, then choose Activate Now. The 14 days begin when you activate, so you can wait until a shop rotation you care about.
Beebom lists the two activation windows as November 1 to December 15, 2026, and January 1 to December 15, 2027. Check the dates shown in your game before you plan around them.
What it does not cover
Reports list these limits. We have not found a full rules page from Epic, so check the in-game text as well:
- Items sold for real money.
- Gifting free items to other players.
- Battle Pass levels.
- Sidekicks: only one copy of each eligible Sidekick.
Myths and scams to ignore
Fortnite Status says every player has an equal opportunity to find it, and that drop rates stay constant apart from Treasure Hours. It also says that, other than Gizmos, you cannot get the same treasure twice. So new accounts, particular skins and times of day are not tricks that work.
- No website, app or generator can give you the token, so never enter your Epic login for one.
- Treat any tool that claims to show which chest holds a token as a scam, and do not download it.
- Do not team with cheaters or use exploits to farm chests, as that can put your account at risk.
- Buying an account that claims to have a token is a common way to lose your money. Read our guide to V-Bucks scams.
When does the chance end?
VGC and Beebom report that the Treasure Hunters mini-season ends on December 5, 2026. Until then, the Treasure Hour timer shows the next boosted window in your time zone.
