What makes a good display name
Teammates have to read it in a kill feed and say it in voice chat, so pick something short that is easy to pronounce. Avoid strings of numbers, your real name and anything that shows your age or location.
Generated names are ideas rather than reservations. We cannot check whether a name is free, and popular combinations will often be taken. If yours is, add your own word or change a part of it.
Changing your name
You change your display name in your Epic Games account settings, not in the match lobby. Epic limits how often you can change it, so settle on one you like before you save. Read the current rules on Epic's account page, since they can change.
Frequently asked questions
›Does this check if a name is available?
No. The generator has no connection to Epic's systems. Try the name in your account settings to see whether it is free.
›Why are the names 16 characters or fewer?
Short names are easier to read and say, and they stay within the length commonly allowed for display names.
›Is the word I type stored?
No. It is used in your browser to build the names and is never sent anywhere.
